Walter White

Walter White exhibits traits of SP3. During the onset of the show, he is shown as a low-life chemistry teacher who works hard, but his work lead him to a very simple life. Curious about what his potential holds, he starts cooking meth (of all things) to prove to others, but more importantly himself, that he is more than what his doomed routine forced him to be. His desire for recognition completely overtakes the trajectory of his life. He becomes power hungry, obsessed with success, loads of cash, and his false identity that eventually blinds him to who he actually is. White’s attitude becomes that of an ego-maniacal drug lord who gets what he deserves, and in the end, what he deserves is tragedy. White resembles enneagram type 3, the over- achiever. With his hard work, energy to succeed, and his heart of stone, he bypasses the emotions he feels in order to attain goals. He thinks he’s unstoppable. His famous like, “I am the Danger” proves just how much his “true self” exists in him, as if he ever had a true self to begin with. He feels as though he settled for less in life, and ends up going through drastic measures just to prove he is worth something. At first, he tries to appear modest, as though he is just doing this for his family. He knows he’s not. As the show progresses, you can see how much his worth and intellect really later to him — wanting to be seen as more than someone in the shadows. His methods improve as he tries to remain hidden, but when what he has isn’t enough for him, he becomes reckless, losing his composer in the search for material wealth. He doesn’t do anything with his wealth other than using it to become more wealthy. This becomes an obsessive pattern. Cook meth -> earn money > use money to flaunt and cook more meth -> earn more money. Some could say that he is a 5 or an 8. His depth of knowledge and initial desire for anonymity resemble type 5, while his lust for power and control might read as type 8. However, his knowledge is not used to pursue more knowledge, and his need for control is spiky for his image, and not for the sake of power itself. He wants to know he is the best, and will eliminate enemies to ensure his position remains above all else, much like an sp 3. He works tirelessly just to make sure he won’t lose whatever worth he has in him. He doesn’t overtly control others and doesn’t hoard his knowledge out of fearing deprivation.
