Hamza Ali Mazari

Hamza Ali Mazari from Dhurandhar duology comes closest to EN(T) classic Jungian type, which is ENTP on MBTI. Whenever someone mentions a character or person being ENTP, some of the images that comes to mind of people is that of debaters, comedians, or mad scientists with unorganized routines. But Jung never mentioned types of cognitive functions into such rigid criteria. It has always been about "how" someone processes information they encounter daily, termed as "contents of consciousness" by Jung. Also, functions don't exist in isolation, rather they maintain relation with other functions in stack. Though Jung never mentioned about the stacks, modern derivatives like MBTI cover them. Starting with how Hamza generally processes information he encounters every time. ENTP have their dominant function as Ne (extroverted intuition), which combines elements from intuition (N) and extroverted attitude (E). How Hamza processes and takes decisions? He considers underlying potentials and opportunities that certain events present. Some lethal events that could turn out on him or his team, but he exploits the perceived latent pattern or deeper development from it, almost immediately, which perceptive functions are about. As per Jung, intuition is defined as perception of unconscious images, the "a-ha" leaps, something that is beyond what senses can sense. But unlike rational functions, it doesn't follow evaluative chains, and occur immediately. Whereas extroversion is about adapting to objective factor, the immediate environment or surrounding, being in tune with the immediate situation. Hamza depicts this by spotting the potential in every situation and not wasting time in exploiting them to meet his objective. For example, when son of gangster Rehman Dakait is shot down which would have resulted in him being dead for being involved in shoot out, he instead screams for help, spotting how the event could instead get him recruited and thus infiltrate into the criminal network. Another example would be about how he manipulated the outcomes by spotting what move would result in what, a form of butterfly effect. Be it manipulating gangs against themselves, distorting weapon supply chains, or perceiving unconventional solutions in immediate dangers. And as per Jung, the Ne (extroverted intuition) is about perceiving latent patterns and developments in objective factor, i.e. the immediate situation of focus. This is how the dominant function defined as "most trusted and natural orientation" manifests in him, as Ne. Why not Ni (introverted intuition) which is heavily voted and debated? Reason is that as per Jung, Ni is related to converging, not diverging like Ne. Usage of Ni would be seen as orientation around subjective factor, in which a person notices underlying patterns or potentials in what they encounter in mundane situations, and form an impression of those patterns. Then perceiving more such potentials, and seeing how all the patterns together make sense, or where they direct. Which is why many Ni-dominant people are seen dwelling in existentialism or inevitability. Hamza however is not gathering latent patterns to form a singular understanding of experiences or universe, which Jung called being highly symbolic in nature. Instead he takes the objective factor in his immediacy as the priority, then spots the deeper potential to smartly exploit it. His systems of consideration are isolated in nature, not interlinked as subjective factors are. That is extroversion, not introversion. Introverts form singular understanding with subjective factor, not adapting to their surrounding world. So Ne-dominance clearly appears a stronger type than Ni-dominance. Now for auxiliary function, Ne-dominants have Ti (introverted thinking) and Fi (introverted feeling), where Hamza overwhelmingly appears to have Ti auxiliary, which is the case with ENTP. Why? Because he makes thorough logically consistent chains to understand many situations his intuition won't reach. Jung explains that the auxiliary function is less differentiated function than dominant one, but not opposing. It supports, balances it, and avoids it from becoming one-sided or spiralling. Thinking is the function concerned with evaluating situations with logical relations or concepts in mind, while introversion in contrast to extroversion is about integrating every experience into the subjective factor to see how they fit there. It doesn't adapt, instead orients around the subjective factor. That gives us Ti (introverted thinking), where one doesn't simply adapt to the surrounding logical standards, benchmarks, or uses logical foundations to take best of the immediate situation. Ti creates a logically consistent understanding and sticks to what it knows, the impressions (subjective factor). Now Hamza doesn't directly use it, instead he uses it only when his intuition couldn't reach certain feet and it might become one-sided. This is shows as he indulges in subtle information gathering by talking to gang leaders, close criminals in circles, and makes sense of them logically. After an internal system is set, he returns to Ne to find points of exploitation. And this is how his auxiliary function supports the dominant instead of opposing it. For tertiary function, Jung defines it as function that is even less differentiated than the auxiliary function, not given much of importance, but also not completely neglected. Auxiliary function in ENTP is Fe, which as Jung defines, won't be very easily visible in someone, but still used when required without becoming the point of focus. Feeling is about evaluation based on abstract affinities and values, and its a judging function. And Fe (extroverted feeling) is about adapting to objective factor using valuation of such abstract believes and importance. They would adapt to group values, match the emotional atmosphere, etc, which Hamza displays, but only when required. For example, the major changing point when he rejects money from Rehman and instead shows his fake disgust against how whole "Baloch" tribe is treated in Pakistan. And often emotionally manipulating individuals including crime syndicate leaders. These are just temporary adaptation to objective emotional factor to move his agenda forward to meet the needs. Then finally, the inferior function, which Jung defines as the "weak" or the supressed function. Its not intentionally suppressed, but the nature of dominant function naturally supresses it, unknown to the person. For an ENTP like Hamza, the inferior function is Si, which continuously opposes dominant Ne, and comes up temporarily as a compensation to overused Ne. Hamza continuously dismisses bodily comfort, doesn't organize around routine, or sticks to subjective sensory factors. He instead adapts using Ne as referred in preceding paragraphs. Sensing is function dealing with sense perception using sensory stimulus through five senses, and introversion makes it highly subjective. That makes it a function where the person sticks to usual sensations, compares new sensations with existing sensory impressions, and doesn't prefer to adapt with changing needs of external worlds being introverted. Display of strong and natural Ne by itself mathematically negates and opposes Si. Other than arguments in favor of INTJ/INFJ votes which I already debunked in third paragraph, another debated type is ISTP. As already mentioned - Ti orients around subjective factor using logic, Se adapts to objective factors using senses, these don't match to Hamza's personality analysis. Because Ti are known for more elaborative plans with tightly coupled logical systems, and Se aids by taking sensory immediacy into consideration, often appearing as a risk-taking investigator archetype. Hamza instead of starting from logic (T), making logically perfect system of it (Ti), and gathering intel by putting himself into situations which are not necessarily sensorily known (Se), he choses to heavily use his intuitive perception instead. We would have expected an ISTP character being more detailed plan, and facing new environments to gather more intel. Hamza instead gathers intel only when his intuition can reach it (auxiliary Ti). Moreover there are arguments like ENTJ, but extroverted Te doesn't seem to match Hamza at all. Because a dominant Te user would adapt to new situations using logic, while Hamza uses logic to form understanding, while using Ne to adapt with environment and move ahead with the objective.
