1/3 - Summary This consensus is.... odd, I would even call it concerning. While SO6 isn't too bad, there is absolutely no way that Obi-Wan is INFJ or ISFJ. I will explain why he is ENTP, social 7 and why he is not, in fact, INFJ or ISFJ. To start off, I will google translate a Typology Discussion I had about Obi-Wan with my Norwegian typology pals. (Translation may not be perfect, lol). First of all, in most systems (except perhaps MBTI stereotypes), loyalty to an internalized code and a focus on following a set code is quite Ti. Sure, ENTP's Ti is more flexible than IxTPs, but they still have Ti. He is focused on being rational, consistant and focused on logic over dealing with external emotions. One thing about Obi Wan is his intense focus on ''thinking before you act'', extremely common for most Ti users (Ti is a very cautious function). I would also say that Obi Wan's focus on rationality and thinking things through before taking risks indicates Ti. So the fact that he is focused on following the Jedi code strongly is an indication of Ti-Fe, more than anything else. For Ne, I see a lot, a bit too much. Other than the stereotypical Ne traits (his humor, intelligence, impishness, smartness): Obi Wan is a person who sees a lot of potential in people (potential here being a form of possibility). Yes, he got some of that from Qui Gon, but I think there's probably a reason why Obi Wan was chosen by Qui Gon (the master learns from his apprentice). Obi Wan is quite cocky and good at noticing external connections, like when he found out about Camino when there was no early history for it, slowly breaking down the possibilities until he found one, thus finding set location (following old history/experience as a basis is extremely Si, except for socionics Si tho). Obi Wan always has specific hunches, and uses his surroundings to connect what might happen, or who is behind something. His Fe is good but not so good that he can read the inner conflicts that Anakin felt (a little too trusting), weird for a ‘’IxFJ’’ who is constantly by Anakin's side. Another thing is that Anakin's Fi always comes into conflict with Obi Wan, often along the lines of ‘’don't give into your personal feelings or impulses Anakin’’. Not exactly what he said but, you get the gist. This, already, should indicate Fi polr. For SO7: Obi Wan is also very anti gluttony in the way he takes things. ''Anakin do not give into your desires'' he projects his inner thoughts/ways of life since he sees Anakin as a part of himself, which follows SO7's self referential tendencies as well. Obiwan cares alot about ‘’sacrifice’’ (for himself and Anakin ''chosen one''), which unlike the most twisted SO7 (who use sacrifice purely for their own twisted Narcissistic fantasies), Obi Wan does it for the betterment of others. He is quite cooperative, well mannered and professional: as well as cocky. This matches SO7 quite well. We can see his E7 gluttony especially well in his younger years, ‘’often taking two paths just for the thrill of it’’. An extension to E7 as well is his humorous tendencies, quite sarcastic and snarky but also to smooth the situation he is in. Now for the long argument. 2/3 - why he is 100% ENTP/EN(T) Ne: Ne is about maxing external connections. We can differentiate Ni from Ne in this regard, as one is internal and the other, well, external. Let's explain what this connection making looks like, then see which fits Obi better. NeJi (mostly NeTi) - ‘’The environment has potential for having some grander meaning, what can this mean? Is there a connection/pattern with object 1 and object 2? Hmmm, let me think. It would in my subjective conclusion seem that there are 5 possible routes this can go. I see that there are moving sets of people. Can these people be after me? This leaves possibility 1 and 2 left. Person 1 went the other direction, it has to be possibility 2’’. oooooorrrr NiJe - ‘’I have been told that Robert is quite a good sportsman and politician (what could this mean? let me gather more research). Robert was a Russian spy? (how could he end in these positions? Perhaps he was sent in order to learn about our play tactics and influence politics with our weaknesses!). I have to tell my friends! Robert is a Russian Spy sent to use our weaknesses against us to influence politics for the worse!’’ Idk about you but NeJi sounds way more applicable. Obi Wan always goes to specific places to observe what is going on, in order to make careful and thought out observations on what could really be going on (NeTi). He sees potential in his environment constantly, seeing room for specific things to go down in the near future. Ni generally thinks far FAR ahead, usually way into the future. Ne plans and makes connections related to moments that aren't as far from here and now (because the here and now has the clues they are looking for). Since Ne is an externally oriented function, it looks for outside clues with its own eyes; hence Ne has a very distorted look at reality (highly imaginative/selective of information). Examples of this include when he predicted and was certain of Kaminos existence, so he went out himself to investigate. His catchphrase that he uses way more than any other star wars character, ‘’I have a bad feeling about this’’, is an indication of his future orientation while dealing with the present environment, a bad hunch. Ne is what happens when you combine Se environmental awareness with Ni’s future orientation/pattern recognition. Ti: Obi-Wan is quite a logical oriented person. He is always the rational one, always thinking before acting; and as such he retains constant maintenance of Anakin (xSFP), so that Anakin doesn't make too many reckless decisions. Of course, many times he fails (Anakin running at dooku ah moments). Ti is very careful, much to the typology community's dismay, because high Ti users don't have the same awareness of external emotions as Fe does. This is why ESTP’s use their Se way more for observation before acting in impulse, while ESFP’s use observation in the midst of action/emotion (opposite timeline of events). He is quite Analytical of operations and is often shown as an intelligent thinker. Ti is not just about rationality however, it's also about retaining and following personal codes/frameworks. THIS is not often talked about in the community, but it's absolutely true (just like how Te works around/follows external laws). Ti follows logical principles to guide them in situations where it is most required. To Obi Wan, this is the Jedi Code, which he follows stronger than almost anyone else (except for TiNe Yoda). He internalizes his Jedi Code, he enforces it on pretty much anyone he cares about and keeps his rules consistent: 1. do not give into pain, 2. follow the jedi code, 3. have a laugh to ease the situation, 4. make careful observations. He uses these principles to guide the connections he makes, to conclude what his hunch is telling him. Ti is also about deduction, meaning to break down the ‘’truth’’ manually to find its core essence. This means reducing possibilities until there is ONLY one. This is in contrast to ENFPs, who keep an open mind even when their feelings are very deep, biased and present. ENTP’s believe in one truth but with many possibilities for set truth. ENTP = Plausibilities (a likely possibility), ENFP = Possibilities (possibilities themselves). His Fe is decent, but its not great. Often he finds himself in situations where Fe would be a great tool to use effectively. Darth Maul: ‘’I've been WAITING for you 👿’’ Obi-Wan: ‘’Well, you've grown a bit taller!’’ *Gets chocked* Secondary Fe, you say? Obi-Wan: ‘’ANAKIN CHANCELOR PALPATINE IS EVIL!’’ Anakin: ‘’FROM MY POV THE JEDI ARE EVIL’’ Obi-Wan: ‘’WELL THEN YOU ARE LOST!’’ Secondary Fe, you say? Nothing more to say, he is not Fe secondary. 3/3 - Ben be Social 7 fr I won't make as long of an argument for SO7 lol I am very tierd. But anyways: Social 7 is called ‘’sacrifice’’. This means sacrifice of one's own desires, or the desires of others, to meet a grand and often ‘’Godlike’’ ideal. This can be that of fantasy, or concrete action. Healthy SO7’s, like Obi-Wan, sacrifices their and others' need for the greater good. This is most notably seen with Anakin’s desires, for the sake of others/the greater good. The ideal that Obi-Wan so strongly strives for is fulfilling the ‘’chosen one’’ prophecy that Qui-Gon put on Anakin, and using that prophecy to destroy the darkside and bring peace to the galaxy. This is why Anakin, in specific, is placed to ‘’sacrifice’’ many of his desires, to fulfill this ideal that Obi-Wan so strongly belives. This sort of works as a counter-gluttony, though not entirely. Speaking of which… Obi-Wan can be quite an intellectual or sensoric glutton lol. He often goes head on in dangerous situations for the thrill (tho with carefulness and rationallity as a motive). Especially in his younger years, he was quite head on and took chances where he saw potential. He is quite humorous and can be quite prideful in his jokes and wit. Obiwan has a lot of charlatanism and intellectual presentation that reach the brink of genius smartness. And, he loves the attention :) Sources: https://cognitivetype.com/ne-behaviorism-mythology/ , https://www.sociotype.com/socionics/information_elements/ne , https://cognitivetype.com/ti-behaviorism-mythology/ , https://www.sociotype.com/socionics/information_elements/ti and https://wiki.personality-database.com/books/enneagram/page/social-7-in-detail
