Fluttershy is clearly enneagram 9 over enneagram 6. Her primary desire is to get along with the environment, people and animals around her - taking their desires as her own as her efforts go towards achieving inner peace and harmony in the environment (which perfectly aligns with passion of sloth). An E6 would be much more wary, inwardly skeptical, cautious of their environment, people, and have a much harder time taking decisions because they are too focused on taking the correct decision based on trustworthy guidance (passion of fear). Her fear of confrontations and conflicts are not because she actively avoids it, but because it doesn't even come to her mind and it's much easier for her to go along with what other people want and not assert her own desires as it would ruin the harmony and peace of others. SP6 are kind, warm because they want to secure other people's loyalties as they subconsciously believe that other people can turn against them if they are not kind/warm and threaten their survival. SP6, being a self preservation subtype of enneagram 6, are focused on survival and safety. They think, "If everyone likes me, then no one will hurt me". But deep down they struggle with trust, because if their trust is misplaced they can end up in precarious positions. They seek guidance from external sources on how to make decisions because they don't trust themselves to make correct decisions. Fluttershy almost never struggles with placing trust on others, nor does she struggle with taking her own decisions and doesn't rely much on external guidance for example, she found it the easiest to trust Discord even when others were wary of him even when her friends told her not to trust Discord, she was confident in her decision to trust him. She doesn't doubt the guidance of Ironwill until she faces the consequences at the very end, she tends to place blind faith on others because it's easier and peaceful to go along with others rather than assert her own wants and desires. Also, the way she deals with her animal friends, she rarely ever asserts own desires and needs and takes others' desires as her own which is what made her passionate about building a sanctuary for all animals and creatures so they would no longer have to suffer. Even in the episode "put your hoof down", her main struggle is with her passion of sloth where she goes along with others and accepts whatever is told to her and not assert her own desires. When she does get assertive, its mostly for defending her friends and she doesn't really fear confrontations in a way she actively looks out for them and avoids it (Not Se PoLR). E6 are much more hypervigilant and they look out for possible conflicts and prepares for them which doesn't fit Fluttershy. Fluttershy's main fixation is indolence not cowardice. "Enneagram Six - Cowardice - “It's not safe” This is the fixed idea that life isn't safe and people are not to be trusted. It is the false belief that everything that can go wrong will go wrong, and the only way to have a positive outcome is to question everything and plan for the worst." "Enneagram Nine - Indolence - “I’m not important” This is the false belief that they are less important than others. With this fixation in place, the Nine devalues themselves, goes against their own interests and puts themselves last. They don’t express their thoughts and opinions, believing others' opinions are more important and hold greater weight." For example, in the episode where rarity let her run the boutique, she got too busy pleasing the customers she didn't realize that she was being mean to the customers and driving them away. SP6 would realize this a whole lot sooner, since they primarily focus on survival and acts warm to secure people's loyalties as a way of compensating for their lack of confidence and trust in themselves and their own decisions. She stopped acting like her real self in order to please Rarity, forget her own desires (which is what Rarity notices and encourages to be herself). The same for "Green isn't your color" episode where she doesn't voice her own desires and takes on Rarity's desire to be a model even though she doesn't like being a model herself. I think people those who vote her E6 don't see the bigger picture and the point of her character. She's a clear E9 through and through. She's someone who merges with the needs of her animal friends and pony friends too, and struggles with asserting her own desires and needs. She's not particularly characterized by indecision, struggle to trust herself to make right decisions, looking for external guidance and doesn't show much distrust in others like an SP6. Not all characters who are outwardly fearful, anxious are E6. I know E6's passion is fear, but not in a literal sense. They just fear that their trust is going to misplaced, and tries to prepare for the worst case scenarios that they anticipate in the future. Any type can have anxiety, shyness not just E6.
